The Girls Show Nigeria Organizes One-Of-A-Kind Conference To Inform Young Women
The Girls Show’s ‘The Girls Revolution Conference’, a quarterly
conference aimed at equipping young women with the greatest tool for change-
INFORMATION, is set to host Nigerian girls/young women between the ages of 12
and 35 years at the prestigious Main Auditorium of the University of Lagos on
the 29th of November, 2013 by 10am.
The A-List conference is a signature event of The Girls
Show Nigeria’s demonstration to showcase its efforts to further promote the
education and empowerment of young women in Nigeria as well as its dedication
to bringing about a revolution among the female folk through role-modeling.
The conference which will be hosted by the founder of The
Girls Show Nigeria, Olamipeju Lawal, just like the previous 5 editions, will deliver
to the attendees a body of knowledge about health, relationship, career and
nation building by various guest speakers and facilitators including Hajia
Turai Yar ‘Adua and Toyosi Akerele. ‘We add value to our nation by adding value
to our young women and one way to add value to the lives of our young women is
by bringing them timely information as affordably as possible. That’s the
reason for the conference and that’s why attendance is free of charge’
says Olamipeju Lawal.
For the millions of Nigerians who nurture the desire to
better the lot of our young women and also for the young women who desire a
change, The Girls Revolution Conference demonstrates how only informed girls
can take their rightful position in the history of our nation; it also reveals
that beyond information, having successful role models is key to changing a
girl’s life for good.
In commemoration of the 2013 Int'l Day of the Girl Child
(11th Oct.) and Int'l Day for the elimination of Violence Against
Women (25th Nov.), dramatic presentations will be held by various secondary
school students who will be attending the conference. Together with informing
the young women, there will also be lots of entertainment and refreshment.
The Girls Revolution Conference has been an A-List
conference since inception with top government officials, industry giants and
Nollywood actors as past guest speakers. These include Dame Abimbola Fashola
(who was ably represented by the wife of the Commissioner of Works), Senator
Oluremi Tinubu, Prof. Dora Akunyili, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, Mrs Omotola Rotimi (Director,
Office of the public Defender), Mr Daouda Toure (UN representative in Nigeria),
Mrs Ibukun Awosika, Ms. Joke Silva, Mrs Moyinoluwa Olutayo (Dear Mother), Treasure
Obasi, and Lepacious Bose.
THE GIRLS REVOLUTION CONFERENCE is put together by THE
GIRLS SHOW NIGERIA, a non-governmental organization dedicated to raising a
generation of informed young women in Nigeria through various media outlets and
gatherings. The Girls Revolution Conference has touched the lives of as many as
ten thousand young women in Nigeria since August 2012.
